The circular economy and the environmental protection have both driven EPS to evaluate and use ecological and recyclable plastic materials for moulding. Our experts in EPS are constantly leading research and development activities about types of new plastic solutions to be offered to customers. We acted promplty in containing environmental and energy impact of the product and production cycle.
Our commitment in pursuing a corporate policy oriented towards environmental, social and economic sustainability materializes with production choices that implement the circular economy.
We produce durable goods using different types of polymers which guarantee excellent quality in terms of flexibility, resistance, lightness and thermal, electrical and chemical properties.
By redesigning the plastic value chain, EPS chose a synergy of solutions to mix bioplastics with recycled materials and to recover mechanically the polymers.
The choice of integrated solutions makes us to optimize production, to reduce the environmental impact and to provide our customers innovative products to be placed on the market. The recovery, the reuse and the choice of innovative materials is for us in EPS the real turning point for a greater production sustainability.
SUSTAINABLE SOLUTIONS AND BIO -BASED PLASTICS
The sustainability of plastic in EPS is the result of choices that our experts apply to the several projects based on the customer’s needs and the best performance and opportunities considered to reduce economic and environmental impact.
WHAT ARE THE BIO -BASED PLASTICS
COSA SONO LE PLASTICHE BIO-BASED
Bio -Based plastics are produced from renewable sources, such as biomass or sugar cane. Therefore a percentage of these polymers is produced with renewable sources and consequently these materials have a lower impact on the CO2 production. Bioplastic aren’t always biodegradable or compostable materials.
The choice of which polymers have to be used or replaced is important not only to obtain products with similar chemical-physical-mechanical properties, but even to understand their environmental impact and how to recycle them at the end of their life.
The mechanical recycling consists of the processing of non-compliant plastic parts or production waste with mechanical equipment . They are transformed back into granule that can be reused as raw material. On the other hand plastic recycled through chemical recycling is different because it derives from the decomposition of polymers throrugh heat, chemical agents or catalysts.
Some plastics don’t fit into the organic category, but they have a production cycle with a low ecological impact. These materials are the latest technopolymers generation. They have an optimized production cycle able to reduce emissions and consequently able to create less damages to the environment.
The analyse of materials makes possible to produce components made in metal in plastic using the corresponding polymer. This productions made in plastic keep the same design characteristics, excellent technical performance, convenience and production efficiency of those originally made in metal. If necessary we even consider overmolding, an alternative production method obtained by combining plastic and metal.
